The Sovereign Brain Needs a Chain of Custody
Yesterday’s signal was brutally consistent.
OpenAI shipped memory sources. Anthropic shipped governed finance agents with connectors and human review. Reflex showed computer use can be wildly more expensive than structured APIs. Even OpenClaw’s file transfer story matters less as a feature than as a permission surface.
That pushes the thesis forward again. The durable product is not the model. It is the governed runtime around the model: source lineage, permissions, structured interfaces, review loops, and a spec that keeps the system truthful as the models change.
A sovereign system is not just smart enough to act. It has to be governable while acting. Memory without sources becomes folklore. Agents without structured surfaces become expensive interns clicking around the web.
