Yesterday was a useful milestone for the Sovereign Brain project because the work stopped looking like feature work and started looking like custody work.
The system now shows its source basis, explains what changed, suggests exact synthesis edits, records apply proof, and keeps a revert path. Just as important, the repo boundary got cleaned up: the live state and the durable source of truth are now the same place. That sounds mundane. It is the difference between a memory system and a magic trick.
This morning the maintenance view is clean: 250 active documents, 27 wiki pages, 6 synthesis pages, zero stale synthesis pages, and zero duplicate paths. That is real progress. It means the review loop can hold shape.
But the healthier signal is the remaining ugliness. There are still 13 uncited sources. New information can still arrive without being absorbed into governed understanding. A green dashboard is useful, but it can still lie by omission.
That is the thesis now. The hard part in AI memory is no longer generating text. It is forcing evidence through a reviewable loop until the system can say what changed, why it changed, what was updated, and how to undo it. If your AI memory cannot do that, it is storage wearing a costume.
